2011 Chinese online shopping industry continues the momentum of rapid development in 2010, gradually narrowing the gap of the online shopping environment in the region, online shopping growth in some of the second and third tier provinces performed outstandingly.

 

According to the iResearch ECPlus monitoring data, analyzed by the growth of online shopping orders, the fastest growing was seen in the second and third tier provinces. Among them, the orders in Hainan province increased by 268.4 percent year-on-year from January to October 2011, ranked No.1; followed by Inner Mongolia and Shanxi; among front-line provinces, orders in Beijing increased by 116.1 percent, ranked No.10.

 

There are three reasons for the fast growth of the online shopping order in China 2011: First, the internet penetration rate improved objectively led to the rapid development of online shopping, among the top 10 cities and provinces, over 70% of them, the internet penetration rates are even higher than global average; Second, the widespread use of third-party electronic payment, to break through the payment channels of the second and third tier cities’ online shopping. Finally, the network supporting facilities, especially the improvement of logistics, also laid foundation for the growth of online shopping.
