Uster has launched Quantum 3 yarn clearer system with smart clearing technology.
Larger and more robust than previous versions, the new system can be used in quality control for the spinning of carded yarns, compactspun, air-spliced and water-spliced yarns. The Quantum 3 capacitive and optical basic clearers see the full yarn body and the system suggests suitable clearing limits.
Following this Quantum 3 proposes how the winding machines can best be tailored to fit the spinner's needs. Smart technology also allows it to forecast the exact number of cuts needed.
The foreign matter sensors use multiple light sources to detect new coloured foreign fibres, helping to separate of them from non-disturbing vegetable matter. The Quantum 3 also includes a polypropylene clearing option.
Improvements to robustness include a better sealed clearer core to keep out dirt and dust, as well as reinforced sensors to cope with vibration. The foreign fibre sensor itself is wider than before, which along with new air blowing arrangements, reduces dirt build-up in the sensor from both the yarn and the air supply, according to Uster.
The newly developed central clearing unit, complete with 14-inch touch screen, has a bigger memory which allows it to communicate with the Quantum Expert System in real time, said Uster. Manufacturers can use this facility to compare the clearing and synchronisation settings across similar yarns, at any winder.
Dr Geoffrey Scott, CEO of Uster Technologies Ltd, said: We are confident that this product, available with optical and capacitive sensors, will set new accuracy standards in quality measurement within the industry.
