Glen Raven Technical Fabrics Lab at Technical Fabric's Park Avenue facility has been accredited by the Geosynthetic Institute (GSI), making it one of only about three dozen labs in the world certified to carry out advanced testing on technical fabrics such as the geogrid products produced by our Strata subsidiary.

"This certification gives us the accreditation required to certify the tensile and weight test methods for our geosynthetic products, specifically the Strata program," said David Seagroves, quality engineer. "This accreditation also allows us to have confidence in our 'real time' testing of our production rather than having to wait two or three weeks for an outside accredited lab to perform these tests. Any quality issues can be addressed and corrected immediately."

In order to obtain the certification, the Park Avenue lab had to complete a laboratory proficiency demonstration of all tests for which certification was sought. In addition, the lab had to provide documentation for training logs, corrective action records, contract review, standards file, equipment file and calibration records.

The certification process began more than a year ago with the selection and purchase of lab equipment. Key members of the Glen Raven team, in addition to Seagroves, were Larry Sykes, QA supervisor; Alton Trott, lead lab technician; Diane Burgess, lab technician; and Matt Clark, product development engineer.
