Japan Polypropylene Corp, Japan operates a few PP production plants across Japan with a nameplate capacity of 1.08 million tons / year. Most of these plants have been running at reduced operating rates since the past few months.
According to a company official who spoke to fibre2fashion, “Presently, all the PP plants are operating at around 80% production capacity rates and the company intends to permanently shut two PP plants”.
“The Kashima plant with a PP production capacity of 90,000 tons per annum will be shutdown in May next year while another plant with a output of 79,000 tons per year will be shutdown in June 2011”, he added by saying.
The global economic slowdown has curtailed demand for its products and has also heavily impacted production margins of Japan Polypropylene Corp.
