Cotton futures on the ICE Futures U.S. exchange forDecember delivery, already creating new record high prices, settled "limit up"again, up 4 cents a pound at $1.4623 a pound. Traders and analysts are stillcrediting high demand, particularly in China, for the fibrous crop's meteoricand historic gains--the highest since the end of the U.S. Civil War. "There'sstill no resistance from the end user, until they decide it's too much on thephysical end," said Sterling Smith, analyst with Country Hedging in St. Paul,Minn.
